Well I just joined this site, and this is my first blog. (And thank you to Animal Liberation coming to my school and talking to us about the different animal cruelty topics. It opened my eyes definitley and we were all still talking about the stuff we learnt even weeks later)

I would appreciate comments. Whether you agree or not, and you can bring up points I might forget to mention. :)

Well Animal abuse is a SERIOUS problem. I was fine with eating meat until sometime today, when I really thought about it for the first time. Why do we eat meat? Maybe, hundreds of years ago, it was the only food our ancestors could find. So of course its natural for us to eat animals. If I were starving, and the only food available to me was a rabbit - I would probably eat it to keep myself alive. But I'm not starving, and many people in the world aren't starving, either.

So why do we eat meat?
Because it tastes good? So do many other kinds of food - including foods that weren't made by killing a living creature.
For the protein? Well, there are other ways of getting protein. There's protein in peanut butter.

The point is that ANIMALS HAVE THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS TOO. They have feelings and emotions, and we don't need to kill them just because we're hungry. And its better ( but in no way 'not bad' ) when you don't kill the animals in cruel ways. McDonalds kills their chickens in the most cruel ways possible, and since I found out, I've stopped eating their chicken. Or their beef, for that matter. The point is that I would be faster to eat a cow that I was certain had died a painless death, and didn't live in bad conditions before it died. But I would still eat something else before I ate that cow.

Personally, I think we all need to rethink our attitudes and thoughts towards ALL animals.

I agree. People think animals don't have FEELINGS and don't feel PAIN. They're WRONG. Animals feel EVERYTHING. Animals feel REJECTION. Animals feel the PAIN. Just like humans would. Except they can't RUN AWAY from it. They're TRAPPED. People need to UNDERSTAND.

Thanks for Animal Liberation for coming to my school (Liverpool HS) and giving a talk about the different ways animals are mistreated and how someone can help put a stop to it through what choices they make. I'm not ready to stop eating meat but I also understand how my actions do hurt the animals (I had no idea about the enviro impact). Maybe I'll think about becoming vego when I'm older.
Just in case the person who gave the talk reads this, I took your advice and have contacted the Animal Welfare League about doing some volunteering over xmas. Thanx

to thomo95 just want to know why you're not ready to stop eating meat altho you know how the animals are treated? I've heard the same thing from the other kids at my school. They won;t give me a reason. Maybe someone on here can
